My Earth Changing Moment

I've been lucky enough to be around nature my entire life. I was raised on a hobby farm in rural Virginia where I helped take care of the farm that has provided so much to me and my family. I love nature and that was apparent from a young age when I used to spend hours outside whether it was playing soccer, hiking, or any other number of activities.

Because of my love of the outdoors, scouting was an obvious choice for me, especially with my brother who completed the entire scouting journey from Tiger Cub to Eagle Scout. I, too, was committed enough to match this achievement, and during my time in scouts, I was lucky enough to do a trek with a group of scouts from Central Virginia to the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

For ten days, I travelled with a 50-pound backpack strapped on my back, fought with all of the elements, and took in some of the most beautiful sights I will ever see during my time on this amazing planet. I climbed a mountain, went fly fishing in fast-paced waters in a valley, and climbed cliffs during this trip, all while in a place that was completely secluded from the rest of the world, an experience I will continue to cherish.
