The fish and the eagle

I was in Canada wilds in a small rowboat on a glacier fed lake surrounded by conifer draped mountains peaked with snow.  I had just caught a tiny fish, unhooked it, and tossed it back into the lake.  What I saw first were orange talons outstreached and then the American bald eagle attached to them, less than 3 feet from the boat.  It grabbed the fish, the flapping wings causing a small breeze on my face, and then it flew away.  I almost tipped the boat over I was so excited.  I was 15.  That experience was my moment that determined my future.  I am now a research biology scientist (although I study mammals not birds).
